American Cockatiel Society Master Breeder Award Program for ACS Members
January 1, 2025
The American Cockatiel Society Master Breeder Award Program for ACS Members.
1. The American Cockatiel Society (ACS) Master Breeder's Award Program (MBAP) is established to acknowledge the ACS cockatiel breeder who consistently breeds superior birds as demonstrated by the performance of his/her birds in show competition. Therefore, master breeder points shall only be awarded to members in good standing with the ACS.
2. Breeder points will be calculated according to ACS Policy and Procedures.
3. Only Advanced Top Bench points will count toward the MBAP levels, regardless of if the band code is a novice breeder or an advanced breeder. Points will be awarded to the respective band code owner. The breeder must be able to prove that he/she did breed and band a pointed bird if asked.
4. Any person intentionally accepting master breeder points for a bird they did not breed and band shall be guilty of fraud and cheating will forfeit all their accumulated points.
5. The maximum number of points that can be awarded to any single bird is 200.
6. In any given show a bird will receive points for only the placing for which it would receive the highest number of points per show. A breeder may receive points for more than one bird at a show and during multiple sponsored shows for any given weekend.
7. Breeder Points that have been earned currently will be used to determine Grandfathered status of all members of the ACS by the ACS Board of Directors (BOD). Separate from the “Grandfathered” status there will be an opportunity for members to nominate past or retired members an emeritus honorary status of Master Breeder. All nominations will be approved by the ACS BOD.
8. Master breeder awards will be awarded at the following three levels of achievement:
Level I - 1500 points are needed to reach this level of achievement. Those reaching this level shall be known as Master Breeder. Breeders must have three Best in Show (BIS) by 3 different birds.
Level II - 3,000 points are needed to reach this level of achievement. Those reaching this level shall be known as Superior Master Breeder. Breeders must have cumulative six BIS by 6 different birds.
Level III - 4500 points are needed to reach this level of achievement. Those reaching this level shall be known as Grand Master Breeder. Breeders must have cumulative 10 BIS by 10 different birds. A breeder must have won at least one ACS Specialty Show.
9. A plaque will be awarded when a member reaches each level of Master Breeder, stating the level of achievement and title of Master Breeder. This will be one of the awards given at the annual meeting held at the annual ACS Specialty Show.
